Confirmation

United Methodist Churches in the Tri-Cities: Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles, Batavia United Methodist Church and The United Methodist Church of Geneva offer a shared, year-long confirmation program that runs September through mid-May. Middle School and older students whose families have self-determined their readiness for confirmation using our readiness guide are welcome to participate.

The Tri-City Confirmation Program is designed to help students prepare for and make a decision to publicly confirm the Christian faith. These classes also prepare students to become members of their local congregation with an understanding of the vows and actions of membership in the United Methodist Church.

The program comprises three educational units (along with field trips, retreats and service project requirements). These units focus on exploring the Biblical Story, Church History & United Methodist Theology, and Faithfully Living as Christians in the United Methodist Church. Confirmation classes are held at each of the three churches and taught by the pastors of all three churches on a rotation basis. Students will be confirmed at their home church.

For the 2022-2023 program, classes will be on Sunday afternoons 1-2:30pm.  More information about program expectations and a detailed 2022-2023 schedule will be available later this summer. This information will also be published at https://tricitymethodist.com/confirmation/ and sent to those who have registered for the 2022-2023 program.

An orientation and kickoff gathering will be Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at Baker Memorial UMC in St. Charles.  This event will provide more detailed information on the program, expectations and schedule, as well as engaging in some getting-to-know-each other time over snacks.
