This year, the United Methodist Churches in the Tri-Cities: United Methodist Church of Geneva, Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles and Batavia United Methodist Church will be offering a combined Confirmation program, which will run from early September through mid-May.  Students will be confirmed in their home church, but all classes will be with the three churches together.

Confirmation classes are designed to help youth prepare for and make a decision regarding their willingness to publicly confirm their faith and their intention to live out their baptismal covenant for themselves.  These classes also prepare students to become members of their local congregation with an understanding of the vows and actions of membership in the church.

The program is comprised of three eight-week units (along with several field trips and retreats):

  • Exploring the Biblical Story
  • Church History and Methodist Theology
  • Faithful Living

Each unit will be at one of the three churches: Bible (Batavia), Church History (Geneva) and Faithful Living (Baker).

  • We will be offering two identical sessions each week to accommodate busy schedules.  Your youth may attend on either Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. or on Sunday afternoons at 1:00 p.m. (If your student typically attends at one time – say Wednesday evenings – but has to miss a class in a particular week, they can join us on Sunday so as not to miss any material.)

Youth and parents are invited to an orientation and kickoff gathering on Sunday, August 22 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Baker Memorial UMC in St. Charles.  We will provide more detailed information on the program, expectations and schedule, as well as engaging in some getting-to-know-each other time over snacks.

Please sign up for Confirmation by filling out this form.
